How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?       Ethnic prejudice is exposed in this confrontation between Peter and Paul. The Jews and Gentiles had very different mindsets and lifestyles, but the gospel had brought both groups together. This is the pattern of the gospel: God is reconciling all people from all ethnicities to Himself. At times this will mean confrontations as our customs are challenged, but the fruit of acting in line with the truth of the gospel is the antidote to the fear of people who are different from us.
