Exodus 16:2-3 – In the desert the whole community grumbled

Praise the Lord

In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the LORD’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”

What makes this passage so striking is that it happened only 6 weeks after the supernatural deliverance from Egypt and the parting of the Red Sea! The Scripture shows us that we can see miracles in front of us yet still question God’s care in our lives. Our fallen minds have a hard time remembering God’s provision in the midst of our current crisis, so we have to make it a habit to remind ourselves of all that God has done in the past. He was faithful then and He will be faithful now!
