Isaiah 53:6 – We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way

Praise the Lord

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all

Do you feel far from God? There is good news. God knew that we don’t have the ability to be consistent, so he took our faults and laid them upon the only One who could bear all of our wandering – Himself. Jesus took our sin because our heavenly Father knows us much better than we know ourselves. Our quest for Christian perfection can be laid to rest at the cross. We can rejoice that Jesus death and resurrection has opened the way to return from our wandering back to the arms of our Creator.

Hebrews 11:24-26 – He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt

Praise the Lord

By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward

The writer of Hebrews gives us an interesting twist: Moses suffered for Christ. But Jesus hadn’t been born yet! Yet how could a murderer like Moses interact with God? Only through grace! Jesus was in the burning bush, the cloud by day and fire by night. When Moses chose allegiance to God over the pleasures of Egypt, he was guiding all of us to our Savior. Even if that choice causes suffering, there is a greater value in the grace that Christ gives than anything the world can provide

Matthew 9:36 – sheep without a shepherd

Praise the Lord

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd

What goes through the heart of God when he looks at the multitudes? Anger? Judgment? When the Scripture describes Jesus and crowds we see a heart of compassion. To look upon God’s earth without compassion separates us from God’s heart for His creation. As followers of Christ He is looking to us to display His compassion on the earth. What moves you toward compassion and how can you display that compassion?
